Quick rules of thumb
- Ferries: arrive 45 min early; fast boats are cancelled first at Beaufort 7+.
- Cash: use Piraeus Bank or NBG ATMs; always choose to be charged in EUR.
- Beaches are public — you may use your own towel outside rented sunbeds.
- Pharmacies (green cross) give advice for minor issues; one is always on night duty.
- Hiking: carry 2 L water, start early, tell someone your route. Mountain rescue via 112.
- Ask for a receipt (apodeixi) every time — it's the law.
