Can You Drink Tap Water in Greece? Island-by-Island Guide

Quick answer

Tap water is safe to drink in Athens, Thessaloniki and most of the mainland. On many Cycladic and small Dodecanese islands it's desalinated or brackish. You can brush your teeth with it, but drink bottled or filtered water. When unsure, ask your host. Locals will tell you honestly.
